(Debbe says:) Page 173 in the workbook – Matthew 12:31-32….. "I tell you, people will be forgiven for every sin and blasphemy, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven, Whoever speaks a word against the Son of man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven either in this age or in the age to come. "
Question: We all thought any blasphemy to any part of the Trinity would not be forgiven, so this is different from what we were taught. Why is this unforgivable for only the Holy Spirit?
Possible answer: To abuse the Spirit is to reject God when God is approaching us in openness.

(Debbe says:)
John 16:7 – "I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you."
Question: Why couldn’t Jesus be here on earth and the Holy Spirit be with us at the same time?

(Debbe says:)
1 Samuel 16:14-15 "Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him. Saul’s attendants said to him, “See, an evil spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 Let our lord command his servants here to search for someone who can play the lyre. He will play when the evil spirit from God comes on you, and you will feel better."
Question: An evil spirit from God? We just need help understanding this…..

About Saul and the "evil spirit from God", this link describes one interpretation. Essentially evil spirits are allowed on earth, yet are still under God's dominion, and are used by Him if it suits His purpose. see: www.gotquestions.org/evil-spirit-Saul.html

In regards to the "evil spirit from God", or other similar passages where God hardens hearts, I read an article at blog.adw.org/2011/08/does-god-harden-human-hearts/ that basically said that these are difficult mysteries best viewed with humility. Paul spoke on this topic in Romans 9:14-20 Romans 9:14-20 (NIV) 14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.
19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’”[c]
